And finally, the 'tomorrow'.
Masami reflects on her last moments, this bizarre nightmare she had been in for God knows how long. Months? She doesn't know. This all feels like a drought, a year without rain. And when the cloudy weather came around to haunt her, Masami realises that maybe the rain won't come-- only to be proven wrong again. The rain did come, and it can't be any more bittersweet.
As she sits down on this train, it feels as if for the first time in forever, she doesn't dread what's coming next. The weights are gone but... she still realises something. She had her dreams taken away mercilessly, she was lied to, she was pushed down and forced to grow downwards and yet-- downwards she never grew. This is exhausting. Her eyes tear up and they stream down, with moments of her life flashing randomly. The isolation, the pain, the struggle... but also the love, the fondness, the promise of being alive together.
First arriving here, she was scared, afraid and alone. But why did people comfort her? They aren't like The Masami Okumura. Loud... Childish... Rude... Apathetic. Masami is better than them.
Why is Josh treating her so well? Why is Fusanosuke showing interest in her friendship? Why is Zoë like a sister to her? Why is Chunyu showing change and growth? Why is Haru protecting her innocence? Maybe they're better than Masami Okumura.
Why are they shedding tears? Why are they breaking promises? Why are they leaving Masami behind to go to God knows where life after death resides? Why does she feel... the need to hold them close? Why is Masami Okumura emotional and happy when she thinks about them? Masami's shy gaze turns from the window and faces those who are still alive. Right.
They've shown her compassion, trust... love. Masami smiles at every single on of their faces, silently having her tears run through her soft skin that has been jagged from the disaster and distress Drake has put he throw. Masami clenches the fan she held.
